Youth Services Librarian

The Dunlap Public Library District seeks an innovative and energetic professional to fill the position of Youth Services Librarian. The Youth Services Librarian plans, implements, and carries out programming for patrons ages birth – 19, assists with collection development of the Easy, J, and Young Adult sections of the library, maintain a friendly and welcoming library environment in the Easy, J, and Young Adult sections of the library, and assist the Executive Director on other matters as needed.

The Youth Services Librarian is expected to assist with circulation duties as needed, including but not limited to: checking materials in and out, shelving, and shelf-reading.

Additionally, the Youth Services Librarian is expected to be active in local youth services networking groups and may pursue committee activities with the Illinois Library Association.

Schedule: The Youth Services Librarian works full-time, 40 hours per week within a schedule set by the Executive Director, and is expected to work some Saturdays and evenings.

Compensation and benefits: The Youth Services Librarian is a salaried position with a pay range starting at $26,000-$28,000, DOQ.

The Dunlap Public Library District is an Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund employer and offers a generous paid-leave schedule. Please note: The District does not offer health insurance at this time.

Qualifications: Education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in Library Science Preferred. Experience working in a public library is required. Customer service experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in children’s and young adult activities and relate well to babies, toddlers, older children, and young adults.
