The elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is impacting our library. If the Federal government does not reverse the order to eliminate IMLS funding, our library faces the potential elimination of interlibrary loans, E-books, and reduction of adult and children’s programming.
Friends of the Dunlap Public Library providing funds to the Dunlap Public Library District to meet needs not covered by tax dollars will be even more critical. If you can, every donation helps. Donate on the Friends webpage at https://www.dunlaplibrary.org/mission/.
FDPL is part of the Caterpillar Foundation’s year-round Matching Gifts Program. For our friends employed by Caterpillar, if you can, take advantage of the 10:1 match program available through May 2. The Friends webpage, https://www.dunlaplibrary.org/mission/, includes a link to the Caterpillar Foundation.
Your financial support has been instrumental in helping us support programming at the DPLD and keep our Library at the heart of our community. At our April 10 General Membership Meeting, we voted to give the library $3,021.96 from funds previously raised to support adult and children programming. The gift will purchase a variety of needed items including mental aerobics books and materials, yoga items, support for the children’s summer reading program, outdoor toys, craft supplies and the annual subscription to Illinois Libraries Present.
