Kids, Tweens & Teens Summer Reading

KIDS, TWEENS & TEENS

Get ready, readers! It’s time to Level Up At Your Library! The Dunlap Public Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program will run June 1-30. Join us on Monday, June 2 at 10 a.m. as we kick off our month-long reading celebration. We will have a face painter from Expressions Body Art and Design, balloon art from The Unique Twist, and special visits from Princess Belle and Dunlap firefighters! Pick up your reading bookmarks and get started on our reading challenge. No pre-registration is required.

In the kids program, you will get a weekly bookmark where you can record the number of books you read. The goal is 5 books – but you can submit a bookmark with more or less than that. We want to encourage you to read as much as you’re able, whatever you can finish! Each time you check in, you can choose a prize from the Treasure Box. When you finish a bookmark, you can enter it into a drawing for one of our fun prize baskets!

In the teen program, tweens and teens will fill out a ticket for every 30 minutes you read. You can pick a small prize from the Treasure Box when you drop off tickets. Each completed ticket can be entered into a drawing for one of the prize baskets!

The library will have lots of exciting programs to participate in throughout June, including a petting zoo and a foam party! Reluctant and beginning readers can continue to sharpen their literacy skills with one-on-one reading sessions with therapy dogs sponsored by the Peoria Humane Society. We’ll also be doing tie-dye, making our own board games, having a puzzle competition, and much, much more!

Our Summer Reading challenge will culminate in a pool party at Shore Acres Pool on Saturday, June 28 at 10 am, sponsored by the Chillicothe Park District!

Be sure to sign up for a library card so you can participate in all the fun!
